Bearcats and Badgers

Over the weekend we had a visit from some old Southwest Baptist University Bearcats. Laura's college friends came up to meet Yedidiya and visit us along with their families. They traveled all the way from the Kansas City and Springfield, Missouri areas to be with us, so we truly appreciated it! What a blessing and wonderful time! Yedidiya got to meet "Aunt and Uncle" Lindsay and Bryan, "Aunt and Uncle" Keri and I'van, and "Aunt" Leslie, as well as spend time with two of his little "cousins".

We spent a fun filled weekend mostly outside playing yard games and just hanging out. Yiah even got to experience his first bonfire in the country! All in all, it was the perfect weekend! And for those of you who know Laura and her friends, suprisingly Yiah came through the weekend wonderfully happy and normal. I am just not sure I can say the same thing about the ladies!

A HUGE thank you to our friends for coming up to Iowa! It meant the world to us, and to Yedidiya!

Rock Star

So we knew that Yedidiya liked music when he would dance along to certain tunes. But now he has begun a whole new stage in his performance career. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord...

So, he is not really doing much, but in our (extremely biased) opinion we thought it was pretty darn cute!

Yiah's New Ride

A new growing family has new growing requirements, and as Laura put it, we are "now a 4-door family!" With the increasing need for space when we travel coupled with the potential for future additions, we decided to take the plunge and get a new (used) car for the family! Yiah thinks it is pretty sweet, and is all ready making a play for it to be his when he grows up. All we know, is it had better last that long!

" Hey Dad! Give me the keys and lets see what this thing can do!"
Dad's only concern is that this bad boy seats 7. What exactly does Mommy have in mind when she says the potential of future additions to the family???

P90-Y

Who needs P90-X when you have P90-Y?!?!

Anyone who knows Laura knows she loves to workout. So Yedidiya decided to work out with Mommy for a day. Neeless to say, I am not sure how much of a workout he got, but he sure was a great personal trainer!

Happy Easter

The Lord has blessed us with so much, as evidenced by this blog. This weekend we take time to remember the greatest gift He ever gave. The gift of His Son who paid the price for our sins, took our punishment, and died for us, then rose again counquering sin and death so that those who believe in Him can have everlasting life. What a blessed gift.

So from our family to yours, have a wonderful Easter, and may all glory and praise be given to our Father in heaven.

Giddy-Up

Yedidiya's new favorite way of getting around the house! Man, being a dad is so much fun! And exhauasting... but fun!

Outdoorsman

This kid LOVES being outdoors. Loves it. One of my new favorite things to do with him is quickly becoming sitting with him on the front steps. I sit him on my knee and wrap both of my arms around him and we just sit. You will never see him so content. He just looks around and takes it all in. If a breeze hits his face he will giggle and sometimes bounce.

So now that spring is here, we try to get him outside as much as possible taking him on walks, 4-wheeler rides, lawnmower rides, you name it. If it is outside, he loves it. Even when indoors, you can say the word outside and he will look out the closest window, and every time I wake him from sleeping and I open the blinds in his room, we have to take a few minutes for him to look out the window and play with the locks.

I guess we are in the right place (Iowa) for a little boy who likes to be out and about. And Daddy thinks this is a good sign for future hunting and fishing adventures!!!

Meet your Match

I can't help but wonder, am I going to be able to keep up with Yedidiya once he becomes fully mobile? And in my head, the closing scene from Meet the Parents comes to mind, only it's little Yiah asking, "You have another question? Sure, I got one question for you. It's CAN YOU DEAL WITH THAT?"

Oh, I sure hope so...

What season is it? --->

So, Daddy got to do two things the other day. First he got to dress Yedidiya. Next, he got to pick out some new toys to put out for Yiah to play with. Without knowledge, Daddy created quite the quandry (only in his mind). Being the time of year that it is, what season is Yedidiya ready for??? How will Daddy decide what to teach first, which takes priority???

So, is it baseball season, as given by the bat, ball, and tee, or is it spring turkey hunting season as shown by the camo? Daddy is not sure which mommy would say; he knows what Auntie Kristen will say, but what do you think? Let's put it to a vote!

"I think I am about to get..."

This has got to be mom's favorite. Yedidiya has been fighting a bad cold, causing him to have difficulty keeping his bottle down. That and we have decided he has the world's most sensitive gag reflex. One cough within 20 minutes of eating and its all over.

So those were Dad's famous last words on this fateful day, "I think I am about to get..."

(Oh the memories of the Lucy Cafe while in Ethiopia...)
