for Yiah's visa! That means we will be coming home as
planned!! Praise the Lord!
Yesterday morning was spent entirely at the Embassy. It was
a tough morning for Yiah, and I think led to a tough day.
We have seen signs that he is recognizing us, so that is
good, and we haven't had any crying like the day we met him.
Maybe two or three times he has that cry that you can just
tell is from the lack of familiarity and missing the bonds
he has made, but overall things are going well.
After we left the embassy, we went to the National Museum
(home of Lucy) to eat at the Lucy Cafe. The reason I tell
you this is because it is the sight of Aaron's christening.
Yiah ate before we did, and the most he had ever eaten in
one sitting for us, a whole 5 ounces. After our meal, he
was a little restless, so I walked him around. Needless to
say after about 15 minutes of walking, all 5 ( I think it
was even more) ounces came right back out onto the front of
my shirt. I felt better when I looked to Laura for support
to see her pointing and laughing with the rest of the group.
Rumor has it there are pictures of the ordeal.
Yiah's day continued to be busy as he did not sleep at all
yesterday. We maybe snuck in a half-hour nap, but that was
it. We put him down last night at 7:30 and he slept the
whole night!!! He woke up once at 5:30 - 6 and took about 4
ounces, then when back down for another hour and a half. So
Laura and I got some good sleep too. It was awesome.
Today has been better for him. He has all ready taken two
naps and we are working on a third as I type. Today
entailed a trip to an orphanage that works with America
World which was a little depressing. It was awesome to see
the kids faces light up as we passed out small toys,
balloons, snacks, and balls. We were then able to play with
the kids for an hour. We were also able to drop off
diapers, bottles, formula, and other everyday items the
orphanage would need. What made it hard was seeing how many
kids there were and the conditions they spent there entire
life in. They are very well taken care of, but things are
so cramped and resources limited. It makes me start to
wonder how soon will we be doing this again.
So as our time here winds down, most of the "formalities"
have been taken care of. We are looking to go to a Coffee
Plantation, up the mountain, and to finish up a little
shopping. Keep praying things go well, that Yiah's
congestion clears up (it seems a little better) and he
continues to bond with us, and that the plane ride goes
well.
We can't wait to see you all!
Laura and Aaron,
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you got Yedidiya's visa approved. We continue to pray for your guys and your long trip back. Can't wait to see some blackmail pictures of Aaron with milk all over his shirt too...
Laura and Aaron Anxiously awaiting your return. Surely things will go better with the flight coming back and no returning to Egypt. Think Yiah will be a good litle boy. You are truly blessed. love, Mom and Dad
ReplyDeleteSuper!!!! We cannot wait to meet the new Hawkeye fan!!!
ReplyDeletePraying for you - Shane,Amy,Madison, and Kaitlyn
Nice to hear everything is going well. Sounds like the bonding is already well on its way - he is talking to you - you said that you can tell the difference in his crying as to what he needs. Also he loves you so much already that he wants to share his lunch with you! Doesn't seem fair though that you just got him and already he is sleeping through the night. Looking forward to seeing you guys and meeting Yiah. We send our love and prayers. Dad
ReplyDeleteGood news all around! What a fun story you'll have for Yiah about how he inducted Aaron into fatherhood with that special rite shared by fathers everywhere!:-) We're happy to hear how things are flowing smoothly toward the trip home!
ReplyDeleteWonderful that you're having many experiences ! God will use all of them, even the bittersweet visit to the the orphanage you mentioned--so good you had taken things for them.
Continuing prayers! Love, Mary and Walter
